Maintenance & Groundskeeper Position

The Eldon School District is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance & Groundskeeper to join our district facilities team. This position plays a vital role in ensuring our outdoor spaces—particularly athletic fields—are safe, well-maintained, and ready for student use.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, and landscaping across district properties.
  • Prepare, paint, and maintain high-quality athletic fields for practices, games, and special events.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining the high school football field for home games, including availability to work night events during football season.
  • Monitor, operate, and assist with repairs of irrigation and water management systems.
  • Inspect and maintain grounds equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Support general maintenance tasks as assigned by the Facilities Director.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in groundskeeping, turf management, landscaping, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, troubleshooting, and water efficiency practices.
  • Experience working with athletic field layout, striping, and surface preparation.
  • Ability to safely operate grounds equipment such as mowers, tractors, and utility vehicles.
  • Willingness to work evenings for scheduled athletic events.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods.

This position is a twelve month position. Current pay starts at $18.61 an hour with the ability to increase per school year.
